Kihrin is a bastard orphan who grew up on storybook tales of long-lost princes and grand quests. When he is claimed against his will as the long-lost son of a treasonous prince, Kihrin finds that being a long-lost prince isn't what the storybooks promised. Far from living the dream, Kihrin finds himself practically a prisoner, at the mercy of his new family's power plays and ambitions. He also discovers that the storybooks have lied about a lot of other things too: dragons, demons, gods, prophecies, true love, and how the hero always wins. Then again, maybe he's not the hero, for Kihrin is not destined to save the empire. He's destined to destroy it.
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert’s name. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn; his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon; his daughters Sansa and Arya; and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse—unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances. Now Robert is riding north to Winterfell, bringing his queen, the lovely but cold Cersei, his son, the cruel, vainglorious Prince Joffrey, and the queen’s brothers Jaime and Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister—the first a swordsman without equal, the second a dwarf whose stunted stature belies a brilliant mind. All are heading for Winterfell and a fateful encounter that will change the course of kingdoms. Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Prince Viserys, heir of the fallen House Targaryen, which once ruled all of Westeros, schemes to reclaim the throne with an army of barbarian Dothraki—whose loyalty he will purchase in the only coin left to him: his beautiful yet innocent sister, Daenerys.
A comet the color of blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six factions struggle for control of a divided land and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war. It is a tale in which brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night. Here a princess masquerades as an orphan boy; a knight of the mind prepares a poison for a treacherous sorceress; and wild men descend from the Mountains of the Moon to ravage the countryside. Against a backdrop of incest and fratricide, alchemy and murder, victory may go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel...and the coldest hearts. For when kings clash, the whole land trembles.
Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage as violently as ever, as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey, of House Lannister, sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the land of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, the victim of the jealous sorceress who holds him in her evil thrall. But young Robb, of House Stark, still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Robb plots against his despised Lannister enemies, even as they hold his sister hostage at King’s Landing, the seat of the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons still left in the world. But as opposing forces maneuver for the final titanic showdown, an army of barbaric wildlings arrives from the outermost line of civilization. In their vanguard is a horde of mythical Others--a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the Seven Kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords.
It seems too good to be true. After centuries of bitter strife and fatal treachery, the seven powers dividing the land have decimated one another into an uneasy truce. Or so it appears... With the death of the monstrous King Joffrey, Cersei is ruling as regent in King’s Landing. Robb Stark’s demise has broken the back of the Northern rebels, and his siblings are scattered throughout the kingdom like seeds on barren soil. Few legitimate claims to the once desperately sought Iron Throne still exist—or they are held in hands too weak or too distant to wield them effectively. The war, which raged out of control for so long, has burned itself out. But as in the aftermath of any climactic struggle, it is not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters start to gather, picking over the bones of the dead and fighting for the spoils of the soon-to-be dead. Now in the Seven Kingdoms, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed, while surprising faces—some familiar, others only just appearing—are seen emerging from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges ahead. It is a time when the wise and the ambitious, the deceitful and the strong will acquire the skills, the power, and the magic to survive the stark and terrible times that lie before them. It is a time for nobles and commoners, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and sages to come together and stake their fortunes ... and their lives. For at a feast for crows, many are the guests—but only a few are the survivors.
In the aftermath of a colossal battle, the future of the Seven Kingdoms hangs in the balance—beset by newly emerging threats from every direction. In the east, Daenerys Targaryen, the last scion of House Targaryen, rules with her three dragons as queen of a city built on dust and death. But Daenerys has thousands of enemies, and many have set out to find her. As they gather, one young man embarks upon his own quest for the queen, with an entirely different goal in mind. Fleeing from Westeros with a price on his head, Tyrion Lannister, too, is making his way to Daenerys. But his newest allies in this quest are not the rag-tag band they seem, and at their heart lies one who could undo Daenerys’s claim to Westeros forever. Meanwhile, to the north lies the mammoth Wall of ice and stone—a structure only as strong as those guarding it. There, Jon Snow, 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, will face his greatest challenge. For he has powerful foes not only within the Watch but also beyond, in the land of the creatures of ice. From all corners, bitter conflicts reignite, intimate betrayals are perpetrated, and a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves, will face seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Some will fail, others will grow in the strength of darkness. But in a time of rising restlessness, the tides of destiny and politics will lead inevitably to the greatest dance of all.
The animals at Manor Farm have had enough of Farmer Jones – he’s drunk, reckless and cares little for their welfare. When the boar, Old Major, shares his revolutionary plans, the animals are convinced they can thrive on their own once the despot Jones is overthrown. But as the pigs vie for power, they begin to bear an uncanny resemblance to the tyrants they have overthrown…
Brave New World is a novel written in 1931 by Aldous Huxley and published in 1932. Set in London in the year AD 2540 (632 A.F.—"After Ford"—in the book), the novel anticipates developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation, and classical conditioning that combine profoundly to change society. Huxley answered this book with a reassessment in an essay, Brave New World Revisited (1958), and with Island (1962), his final novel. In 1999, the Modern Library ranked Brave New World fifth on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. In 2003, Robert McCrum writing for The Observer included Brave New World chronologically at number 53 in "the top 100 greatest novels of all time", and the novel was listed at number 87 on the BBC's survey The Big Read. What if the future was a tyranny, but one cleverly person intended to keep the mass of society unaware of this? The people would be provided with several distractions, daily life would be ruled by sex and drugs, and pervasive mass media would suppress the possibility of any original thought: in such a society the ruling elite would not need to fear any kind of rebellion. If you think that Huxley's vision seems to be the way things are in fact turning out, you're not the only one!

Letty is not very good at being a dragon. Actually, he’s so terrible at it that his dad went and kicked him out of the house! What’s a skittish monster of myth to do in a world where everyone sees him as material for their next suit of armor? Why, find a safe place to call home, of course. With the help of a slightly evil elvish architect, Letty’s quest for the ultimate draconic domicile begins!
Letty has traveled all over in search of a safe, affordable place to call home: no easy feat when you’re a dragon! Lately, he’s picked up a Hraesvelgr, an adorable chick that’s destined to grow up into a giant, magical bird. Letty’s determined to start taking this settling-down thing more seriously. After all, now he’s got someone else to look out for! There’s just the very small problem that Letty keeps getting caught by all kinds of dragon hunters...
Letty is probably the weakest dragon in the world, but somehow he’s managed to blunder his way into a fearsome reputation. When he and his elven friend Dearia rescue a human girl named Nell, they think they’re doing her a favor. Just like Letty, she’s searching for a new home. Trouble is, the rest of the human world sees it differently–they think Princess Nell has been kidnapped by the terrible and mighty Flame Dragon King!
The red dragon Letty has spent months traveling around with Dearia, a kindly elf with the fearsome title of Demon Lord. But just how did Dearia wind up as both an architect and the Lord of Darkness? It’s time for the full tale of his past to come to light: the house-hunting adventures of a young elf and a mighty black dragon!
Alas, despite many adventures, the red dragon Letty is still homeless. A new chance at finding the home of his dreams appears when he reunites with the human princess Nell... and meets a rather suspicious real estate agent. This home broker just so happens to be a vampire, and there's something strange -- and maybe defective -- about every house in his inventory. The hilarious house-hunting quest of a very cowardly dragon continues!
After touring of a whole bunch of spectacularly defective houses, it’s obvious that Letty’s new realtor is pretty bad at his job. And a vampire. So is it really a big surprise that he’s turned out to be a villain, too? Letty might be harmless, but his reputation as the “Flame Dragon King” just keeps getting him in more and more hot water!
Letty is a weak and cowardly dragon, but exaggerated legends about him spread like wildfire. There isn’t anyone alive who hasn’t heard the name “Flame Dragon King,” and Letty doesn’t like that one bit. All he wants is a nice, safe place to live…but as it turns out, he’s not the only one searching. There’s all sorts of house-hunters out there: the minions who took over the House of the Flame Dragon King, a circus troupe full of monsters, a World Serpent with a sense of wanderlust, and now, even a black dragon! Truly, no matter how different they might be, everyone dreams of a place to call home.

To vanquish the empire, he must do the impossible: bond with a dragon. Only then he can seize his destiny, and seek his revenge…
Long ago, humans betrayed dragons, stealing their magic and banishing them to a dying world. Centuries later, their descendants worship dragons as gods. But the 'gods' remember, and they do not forgive. Thief Arcady scrapes a living on the streets of Vatra. Desperate, Arcady steals a powerful artifact from the bones of the Plaguebringer, the most hated person in Lumet history. Only Arcady knows the artifact's magic holds the key to a new life among the nobles at court and a chance for revenge. The spell connects to Everen, the last male dragon foretold to save his kind, dragging him through the Veil. Disguised as a human, Everen soon learns that to regain his true power and form and fulfil his destiny, he only needs to convince one little thief to trust him enough to bond completely–body, mind, and soul–and then kill them. Yet the closer the two become, the greater the risk both their worlds will shatter.

Harry will need powerful magic and true friends as he explores Voldemort's darkest secrets, and Dumbledore prepares him to face his destiny.

The protective charm that has kept Harry safe until now is broken, but he cannot keep hiding. The Dark Lord is breathing fear into everything Harry loves, and to stop him Harry will have to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes. The final battle must begin - Harry must stand and face his enemy.

Their strength and majesty are only matched by their diversity. Large, small, good, evil, intelligent, bestial, noble, grotesque, peaceful, fierce... There are no limits when designing a dragon for our fantasy universe. In this book of illustrations by Juan Arrabal, we will try to unravel the secrets of these legendary animals from an artistic point of view.

It's fall 2007. A well-timed leak has revealed that the US government might have engaged in first contact. Cora Sabino is doing everything she can to avoid the whole mess, since the force driving the controversy is her whistleblower father. Even though Cora hasn't spoken to him in years, his celebrity has caught the attention of the press, the Internet, the paparazzi, and the government--and with him in hiding, that attention is on her. She neither knows nor cares whether her father's leaks are a hoax, and wants nothing to do with him--until she learns just how deeply entrenched her family is in the cover-up, and that an extraterrestrial presence has been on Earth for decades. Realizing the extent to which both she and the public have been lied to, she sets out to gather as much information as she can, and finds that the best way for her to uncover the truth is not as a whistleblower, but as an intermediary. The alien presence has been completely uncommunicative until she convinces one of them that she can act as their interpreter, becoming the first and only human vessel of communication. Their otherworldly connection will change everything she thought she knew about being human--and could unleash a force more sinister than she ever imagined.

Caleb never wanted to join the army. And he certainly didn't want to be turned into a dragon. But when he doesn't understand how his new body works and can barely make a move without being watched by the wizard who took his humanity, how is he supposed to escape before he can be turned into a weapon of war?
Ziya should have been the one to escape. If she and the white dragon Kaal had tried to escape on any night but a snowy night, her black scales would have been better camouflage than his white ones. Instead, she was captured, and he went free. And her captors remind her of this every day.So when she gets the chance for revenge, she's ready to make him pay.
Kaal and Ziya have one chance to find Alan and make him pay for all he did to them. Their dragon allies have agreed to let them try to confront Alan on their own, even though two adolescent, unnatural dragons who have never hunted down anything more than their dinner aren’t much of a match for someone as powerful as Alan. But a human lord whose village specializes in fighting dragons might be just the ally they need.
The dragon council has scorched most of the land in their quest to kill off the last of humanity. Now, even other dragons agree that they must be stopped. Unfortunately, the best way to stop them is to team up with the humans in Ytona, a village dedicated entirely to killing dragons and to making use of their magic. Caleb has been to the village before; the last time he went, he was imprisoned for being a dragon. But when he’s gravely injured in a fight with the council, he has no choice but to entrust his safety to the village while he recovers. Nowhere else is safe. Now, without Caleb’s silver tongue, Ziya finds herself alone among dragons, thrust into the unenviable position of speaking for all of humanity. She’s not as good as Caleb is at uniting enemies, but she knows she has to try.
Kaal and Ziya only taste peace for a matter of months before it gets disrupted again. Practically as soon as they're ready to take up their new responsibilities with the dragon council, they're met with a new problem. Sea monsters from the north are invading the waters to the south, spelling trouble for everyone. Ziya is sent north to help solve the problem, while Kaal remains behind to play liaison between the humans and dragons of different clans. Once Ziya reaches the north, she can't help but fall in love with the people there. They work in harmony with dragons to keep the sea monsters in check . . . most of the time. But some human-made dragons from the south escaped the devastation of the war and nested in their mountains, pulling attention away from the sea and giving the monsters in the depths a chance to spread. The problem stretches across clans and across the continent. Can Ziya stop another war from breaking out? More importantly, can she keep Kaal from being drawn into danger, too?

Welcome to the brutal and elite world of Basgiath War College, where everyone has an agenda, and every night could be your last . . . Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general-also known as her tough-as-talons mother-has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you're smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away . . . because dragons don't bond to "fragile" humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother's daughter-like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant. She'll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise. Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret. Alliances will be forged. Lives will be lost. Traitors will become allies . . . or even lovers. But sleep with one eye open because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.
She survived her first year at Basgiath War College . . . but the danger is only beginning. Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College, Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet's already wondering how she'll get through. It's not just that it's grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it's designed to stretch the riders' capacity for pain beyond endurance. It's the new vice commandant, who's made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is - unless she betrays the man she loves. Although Violet's body might be weaker and frailer than everyone else's, she still has her wits, and a will of iron. And leadership is forgetting the most important lesson Basgiath has taught her: Dragon riders make their own rules. But a determination to survive won't be enough this year. Because Violet knows the real secret hidden for centuries at Basgiath War College - and nothing, not even dragon fire, may be enough to save them in the end.

In the villages of Denxalue, fledgling trader Denziu sees artistic talent where the rest of the world sees a pit of wallowing mud dragons. The local artisans create vessels for grain that they sell for next to nothing as mere storage pots but Denziu dreams of selling the pieces as fine art to prove their true value. To make this dream reality, zie must trek the Tachanigh-Kelkaith, the trade route to the northernmost marketplace in the world--a cold, affluent city not made for a dragon used to warm swamps--via places the young dragon has only read about in books. The prospective journey excites Denziu as much as selling the pots, and soon every ounce of Denziu's savings goes to two things: a questionable luck charm and a spot on a trade caravan that will make the trip on foot. Bad luck seems to strike early, and it isn't long before Denziu questions whether the luck charm is instead a form of sabotage. But while Denziu is new to the business of trading, zie didn't invest an entire life's savings to give up so soon. Besides, success means everyone will see Denxalue with new eyes! With so much at stake as the miles pass and the hardships increase, will zie be able to hold on to that optimistic dream? Or will Fate send Denziu home disillusioned and empty-handed?
